Foodie Adventure in Bangkok: Part One
Embark on a culinary journey through the vibrant streets of Bangkok as we explore the delectable dishes that graced my plate on day one of my foodie adventure.
Fran’s
Address: 58, Thung Maha Mek, Sathon
Fran's is a charming brunch spot that stole my heart with its velvet egg and bacon (390 THB). The egg was a velvety delight, and the bacon was simply bomb. The steak and eggs with sweet potato fries were a mixed bag—the fries were spectacular, but the steak could have been better.
Rung Rueang Pork Noodles
Address: 10/3 Soi Sukhumvit 26
Famous for its Michelin Bib Gourmand pork noodles, Rung Rueang did not disappoint. We tried both the Tom Yum soup and dry versions (60 THB each). Spicy, down-to-earth, and affordable, these noodles were a delicious start to our culinary journey.
Krua Apsorn
Address: 169 Dinso Rd, Wat Bowon Niwet, Phra Nakhon
Krua Apsorn serves up dishes from family recipes passed down through generations. The crab omelette (350 THB) was fluffy, and the generous chunks of crab were divine. The deep-fried sea bass (380 THB) was a standout dish, bursting with flavor.
Supanniga
Address: Riva Arun Hotel, River Front 392/25-26 Maharaj Road
With a view of Wat Arun, Supanniga offered a picturesque setting for dinner. We sampled the deep-fried Chinese cabbage, fish balls in green curry, and fried rice with salted fish. While the food was good, it didn't quite reach the "wow" factor. Nonetheless, dining with a view of the sunset was truly priceless.
Mae Varee
Address: 1 Thong Lo Road, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana
A quick stop at Mae Varee for mango sticky rice (130 THB) was the perfect end to our culinary adventure. Though the mangoes weren't as sweet as expected, the sticky rice with coconut milk was flawless, leaving a sweet taste on our palates.
